Hey everyone,
So today the hot posts on Facebook are about "We want more Phil and Kay!" or quotes from Phil saying " I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty, and like Him, I love all of humanity."
While this statement is endearing, it was pulled from an interview full of disrespectful comments directed towards the LGBT community and even the African American community. I understand, everyone is very upset that he is being chastised for speaking his opinions and beliefs...but welcome to the lifestyle of being a celebrity. It is one thing to express your opinion, it's another when you devalue and mock entire communities. I would like to point key moments where I believe Robertson crossed the line in terms of expressing an opinion.
"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men." -Phil Robertson
To say that homosexuality as a whole is simply a gateway to sex with animals and promiscuity is simply being ignorant to the facts. I would love to see some research that shows any connection between bestiality and homosexuals, or even increased infidelity. In reality its clear that people have weird fetishes and cheat on partners whether they identify themselves as straight or homosexual.
"It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man's anus. That's just me. I'm just thinking: There's more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I'm saying? But hey, sin: It's not logical, my man. It's just not logical."- Phil Robertson
The only thing "not logical" (or illogical as I like to say) is the fact that Phil is speaking about things he clearly knows nothing about. I have tons of homosexual friends who would say that vagina's are completely disgusting and undesirable, and their arousal comes completely from " a man's anus ", and vice versa for women who just want to be with other women. Also important to mention is the biology behind it all! For men, anal penetration gives their prostate tons of attention, and allows them to feel a whole different kind of orgasm than just vaginal sex. The anus is also much tighter which is pleasurable for men as well. For men and women alike, the anus has tons of nerve endings that get stimulation when touched.
"Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash," he said. "They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues." -Phil Robertson
The issues related to this statement are endless so I'll be brief. First of all, he equates the worthiness of working with blacks to his white trash status. He then proceeds to say that in this pre-civil rights time, that the African Americans he was around were happy as clams because they were singing "happy" songs. Lastly he makes the connection between African Americans and welfare...
I could ramble on about this forever and I needed to get some of my thoughts out somewhere. In no way am I devaluing anyone's right to express/have their beliefs and opinions. What I am going to say is that you best be prepared for the backlash that will come at you from the people that disagree with you.

This is water
Hey everybody,
Sometimes sifting through the endless updates and links that your friends post on Facebook can be a daunting task. You see pictures of what they ate for breakfast, a news story that doesn't really seem attention grabbing, or that they need help buying a chicken in Farm Town. This is something I experience every day, so I've learned to skim through looking only to pay attention to what is being posted by my closest friends. It was while I was doing this that I almost past over something really amazing. It was a speech by a man named David Foster Wallace, called This is Water. After giving this as a commencement speech at a college graduation he also published the thoughts in an essay that I have not yet read, but plan to as I find his ideas so inspiring. Wallace speaks about the Truths of living a monotonous adult life, the ability to perceive life how we choose, and even the true values of a college education. I have listened to the 22 minute speech itself and also a 10 video that was made with his speech dubbed over that follow along with the ideas. I'm going to link it below and I hope some of you will take the time to watch it. It has really caused me to stop and analyze what I'm thinking. Sometimes the thoughts that go through my mind are just bias unfair judgments of the people around me, and I am now training my brain to not jump to such harsh conclusions. If you can watch this speech and truly take it seriously, it can change your perspective on life.

Wish I could work up the courage...
Hey guys!
So I know there are probably some of you out there that spend a lot of free time doing the same thing I do...which is watch Youtube videos for hours on end! Every night I wind down watching some of my favorite Vloggers. That brings me to my problem. I want to start a daily vlog so much! I love documenting life through videos and being able to go back and revisit all the good times I've had. I also find it is such a good way for me express myself as I have made my own video diaries for myself as a personal place to reveal my feelings. I love to watch all the British Youtubers as well as some Americans like Joey Graceffa, Tyler Oakley, Sawyer Hartman, etc. If anyone out there reads this and can share any advice on how to approach starting a daily vlog please share in the comments below. Also leave links to your daily vlogs if you have one, I love to watch them and the more I watch the better sense I will have as to how to start one. Thanks for all your help out there!

How I Feel About Internet Dating
Hi guys!
Today I want to express my feelings on Internet dating and share some of my experiences. To start off I'll share with you a few safety guidelines I have created for myself. (Of course I had to learn the hard way! >.<)
1. If you are ever going to meet up with someone in real life please please please tell someone who you are meeting and where. Well my experiences have been safe and I have never experienced the dreaded "Catfish", there are some dangerous people out there and you have to be careful. If you are too embarrassed to let someone know you've been talking to someone online and want to meet them, you probably shouldn't be using the site.
2. Do NOT give out your phone number too quickly. This is one lesson I definitely learned the hard way and still deal with the repercussions. You may be talking to a guy and find him to be really cool and seemingly normal, so you give him your number. Then he suddenly turns into that possessive, jealous type that will blow up your phone with messages asking why you aren't answering. Then even when you try to stop talking to the person you are stuck with the periodic "please give me a chance", "hey are you there?" desperation texts. Or worse voicemails!
3. Never ever ever send out scandalous pictures of yourself. Any guy (or girl!) that is going to ask you for things like that before you've even met in real life is not worth your time and not ever going to respect you. He/she does not want to date you and tons of other girls/guys are probably sending them pictures too.
4. Set a boundary for yourself of how long you want to talk to someone before you want to meet them. I usually do about 2-4 weeks as to see who is really interested in getting to know me and my personality. Plus it helps me feel more comfortable and confident when I'm going to meet them for the first time.
5. Give it time and don't be afraid to send a message first! Don't rush into meeting people and settling for dates with anyone who will message you. There are so many men/women on there that you get the option of being selective and picky, haha. And if you seem someone that really catches your attention just send them a short little message. If they don't answer you it isn't the end of the world (Even though it does feel disappointing sometimes). It took me a long time to come to terms with guys i'm interested in not replying to me, especially if it is based off of appearance. But just tell yourself that it's their loss, you know how awesome you are and they never get the honor of finding out!
Well that's my little rant for the day, and if you guys have any questions about online dating I have been participating in it for several years. I would love to try and answer your questions and give some advice. Just don't get discouraged. Like I said, I have been dating online for many years and have met quite a few people. Of all those people, I only dated one long term. Just stick with it, be safe, selective and have fun meeting new people that you may not have met otherwise.

Adult life and Its Many Problems
Hi everyone,
I've been so busy lately working my new job at the assisted living facility and going to school. I'm pulling really high grades so far and finally getting the hang of everything at work. Of course, that is where the problems come in.
I have now accepted a new job working with children with Autism again for an agency. I'm now in a debacle where I have to decide if I want to try and keep both jobs or quit the job at the assisted living facility. (any advice?!) I've only been working this job for about three months so I feel sort of bad leaving it already when the invested their time and money into me. The new job is going to give me clients every afternoon Monday through Friday and pay me a significant amount more. This leaves the possibility of staying with my other job for weekend shifts, but I'm not sure if I want to or not.
The next issue I'm facing is possibly changing my major along with all my other plans to move away for college. For the last four years I've been certain I was going to major in Biology with an emphasis in zoology. This semester I'm enrolled in a Biological Psychology class that I am completely enthralled, passionate and really successful in. I want to possibly change my major to cognitive science or neuroscience. This would mean transferring to a different college than I planned, in a different city than I planned.
So my life is full of indecision and uncertainty but I'm allowing myself to be okay with that. College is the time to find what you love, change your mind...and that's alright. I will figure it out and be successful at whatever I end up doing.

Life Update!
Hello everyone!
I haven't blogged in such a long time! Life has been so busy. I started my new job working as a waitress in an independent and assisted living community. I'm enjoying it so far, even though some of the residents can be really grumpy sometimes. Honestly after eighty years of life I think a person can reserve their right to be a little grumpy sometimes, haha! I also started a new semester of college which is proving to be a lot of work at the moment. I'm taking a course in Biological Psychology, Physical Anthropology, Public Speaking and a fitness course. After the first week I managed to catch Bronchitis which put me out of commission for a good four or five days. I even had to miss two days of school and call in and use a sick day at my new job already.
I thought it would be fun to share one of my "Wow this is awkward" life moments with all of you as well. So at the beginning of this year I ended a relationship with a boy that I had dated for about 7 months. I am still fairly close with his family and had promised to go to a wedding of his cousin. So that wedding happen to fall a few weekends ago. I thought it wouldn't be too awkward and that I could totally handle it...boy was I wrong, haha! My ex shows up with another girl whose he has been seeing at the exact same time as I arrive at the wedding, so we even get to walk in together! The whole wedding he is kissing her in front of me, and dancing in front of me just to make me uncomfortable. Eventually it worked, and I had to get up and leave because I felt too weird.

July Favorites-Beauty Edition
Hello lovelies!
I thought I'd talk a little bit about some of the beauty products that I have loved during the month of July.
LIPSTICK:
For the last month I have really been getting into wearing more and more lipstick. These have been the two that I have been absolutely loving. The first is a Lasting Finish by Kate in the color "Kiss of Life". While this appears to be a deeper red, it comes off fairly bright and gives an amazing pop of color. I usually wear it when I got out swing dancing to give myself more of a 50's style look. This lipstick is very pigmented and has a slight amount of shimmer to it and I find it lasts for my whole night out on the town! The second lipstick, more of a coral color, is a Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in the color "Siren". This lipstick has been more of an every day color, whether I am going to work or running into the grocery store. It is a little less pigmented than the Lasting Finish lipstick, so it leaves room to go a little more dramatic with your eyes. You do have to reapply this lipstick several times throughout the day as well.
FACE:
During the last month I have been wearing less make up on my face in terms of foundations, bronzers, etc. During the summer I am constantly getting tanner on my face and it's hard to keep up with products that match my skin tone. My staple products have been Revlon Colorstay Concealer in medium deep, paired with Rimmel London's Stay Matte pressed powder. These two products are enough to cover up any unevenness, blemishes or redness that I have happening on my skin. The pressed powder is transparent so it simply takes away any shine on your face without dealing with any color or tints. It's also nice in the summer time to keep your skin a little more bear and breathable on those 100 degree days.
For my eyes I have been enjoying Maybelline Eyestudio gel eyeliner. I find it very easy to control the thickness and placement when using gel liners. It really allows me to get an amazing cat eye that I am super pleased with. You get a ton of product as well so it will last you ages. For mascara I have been using Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express cat eyes. This mascara gives you such a natural looking effect on your lashes. You get the length and volume all while everyone is thinking you aren't wearing mascara at all. These two combined together will give you the perfect cat eye that every girl needs.
HAIR:
The final products that I wanted in my July favorites are a few that I have used on my hair. I have posted a few pictures on here, but if you haven't seen them, I have my hair done in an hombre. Because the bottom is bleached every 3 or 4 days I have been using BLEAch BLondes shampoo to keep it from looking unnatural and brassy. This product works amazingly and I receive many compliments on the color of the blonde in my hair. The product can be a little intimidating as it is a deep purple color, but it will work wonders on the color of your bleached blond hair. The other product is Tigi Catwalk sea salt spray. This product has saved me on so many days where I wake up late for work. After jumping out of the shower I scrunch some of that sea salt spray into my hair and it gives my hair great wave and bounce for the day. I also have applied it to dry hair that is just falling a little flat on the top layers. It also smells delicious in my opinion!

Weekend Fun!
Hello beautiful people,
So far my weekend has been absolutely lovely! On Friday night I got all dressed up and went to the downtown area for some swing dancing. It just so happen to be a competition night so I got to see some of my friends giving it their all out there. After a few hours of dancing it was a little crowded and warm in there so my friend and I decided to head to Old Town for some karaoke and a few drinks.
While at the bar we witnessed our first bar crawl, which is when a new bartender walks across the bar pouring shots into peoples mouths, a not quite so nice rendition of "Before He Cheats" from the man's perspective, and lots of Jack Daniels promotion. We tried a few drinks, one of which tasted just like Fruit Loop cereal and another called a Lynchburg Lemonade made with Jack Daniels. We met a nice group of people that we ended up playing some pool with and even giving a ride home to at the end of the night.
Unfortunately I probably stayed out later than I should having work at eight the next morning, so let's just say I was pretty tired! Thankfully it was an easy day in which we got to take the children to see a movie. They chose to see Despicable Me 2 and it was very funny and adorable. Then I made my way over to my Grandmas house to do my weekly cleaning. Finally I made it home and I crashed for the next eleven hours.
Now my one day off will consist of some house work and playing Ultimate Frisbee.

Jobs and Dancing
Hello lovelies!
Today has been wonderful so far! I went in for a job interview today, the second one for the same place, and I believe that they will be hiring me!! They called me again this afternoon and asked me to come in on Monday to fill out paperwork. It makes me sad because this only puts me closer to leaving the kids at my other job, but also takes some weight off my shoulders knowing that I won't be unemployed. The job is working as waitstaff at an assisted living facility. So I will be working in the dining area, serving food and taking orders and what not. It may not be every one's cup of tea, but I sure am excited for a new chapter in my life.
After my interview this morning I drove in to work for four hours at my other job. The boy's were in a great mood, and their mom said that they can go to the movies tomorrow! So we will be going to see Despicable Me 2, which will make the day fly by so fast.
Now I will be off this afternoon for some swing dancing fun and maybe a little bit of karaoke at one of the bars downtown. I will probably take some pictures and post them up here tomorrow and let you know how the night went. Have a great night everyone!
This is a glimpse into my Wonderful Reality
Today has been wonderful so far! I went in for a job interview today, the second one for the same place, and I believe that they will be hiring me!! They called me again this afternoon and asked me to come in on Monday to fill out paperwork. It makes me sad because this only puts me closer to leaving the kids at my other job, but also takes some weight off my shoulders knowing that I won't be unemployed. The job is working as waitstaff at an assisted living facility. So I will be working in the dining area, serving food and taking orders and what not. It may not be every one's cup of tea, but I sure am excited for a new chapter in my life.

It's ME! :D
Hello everyone!
My name is Kelsey and I guess you are stumbling upon my blog and wondering what you may find here. To be honest, I can't really give you an answer to that! I have tried to start blogs in the past in which I specify what I am going to focus on and it just hasn't worked for me. That's probably because I am always bouncing around doing different things. So overall this blog is going to about whatever I want to talk about whenever I want to talk about. Then maybe I'll find a little niche that I fit in within the blogging world. So I figured maybe as a little introduction I will start with some facts about me so that we can understand each other a little bit. Please leave some facts about you in the comments, or share something that we have in common.
1. I have been a vegetarian for the past three years!
2. My best friend, and the most important person in the world to me, has been in my life for 14 years now!
3. I am 21 years old.
4. I love to go swing dancing.
5. My birthday is May 28th.
6. I love to go camping.
7. I'm kind of obsessed with pasta...mmmm carbs.
8. I have a blue belt in martial arts.
9. I know how to play the flute and the tuba.
10. I play Ultimate Frisbee
11. I love makeup, so you may be seeing some of that on this blog.
12. I dislike my hair 50% of the time and am mildly pleased the other 50%.
13. I live in Northern California, but hope to move to SoCal in a year.
14. I'm obsessed with YouTube, especially YouTuber's from the UK and L.A. O_o
15. I love animals, I have the worlds cutest dog and also two cats.
16. I am a biology major with an emphasis in zoology.
17. I currently work as a para educator and home therapist for two children with Autism.
18. I am leaving that job this month which breaks my heart </3
19. I watch too many reality t.v. shows.
20. I bite my nails >.<
21.My favorite colors are probably teal, coral and mint green at the moment.
22. I cry during any movie/song in which someone has cancer.
23. I wish I could read minds.
24. I am a very self conscious person.
25. I am terrified of a real zombie apocalypse breaking out.
